A Warlock is awesome character to level. Combine the warlocks demonic pets with a wide variety of AoE, damage and fear spells and you have an incredible wrecking machine. Unlike other casting classes, warlocks typically don't have to take mana breaks. Warlocks possess the Life Tap and Drain Life abilities. Life Tap converts health into mana. Drain Life will refill the warlocks health bar. Plus, with fear, a warlock may not even need to use Drain Life.

Also, you should be using Create Healthstone and Create Soulstone abilities all the time. Consuming a Healthstone will save your life many times and when you do die you have your Soulstone on you so you can resurrect on the spot.

As a Warlock you should stay Affliction until you reach level 70.

Warlock Affliction Build (Focus: 1-70 Leveling)

The Affliction build will allow you to increase your DoT spells damage and also give you some awesome new spells as well. Start your build with the Improved Curse of Agony. Improved Drain Soul and Suppression will give you less mana problems. You will also want to get Improved Life Tap and Soul Siphon to keep your health and mana under control.

Then you got Amplify Curse and Fel Concentration that will help you cast better and faster. Next, concentrate on increasing the range and damage of some spells. PvP players will want to pick up Curse of Exhaustion as well as soon as possible. Shadow Mastery and Siphon Life are great to have too.

Unstable Affliction and Haunt are great spells to have as well since they are good damage spells. Dark Pact goes along well with Improving your Felhunter.

Once you enter Northrend you should switch your build to a Demonology - Affliction build.

Warlock Leveling Build 70-80 Demonology - Affliction

Getting the Felguard and Siphon Life is where we focus now. While boosting your Demon Pets you can still do good damage with the DoT's the Warlock has. The Affliction tree offers a lot of health gains which you can of course convert to mana so basically a lock with this talent build will have no down time.

You'll want to wait for the Demonology tree because it's talents consume too much mana to level easily with. The Affliction tree is great though to preserve mana and deal a lot of damage. Stacking your DoTs on several mobs at once using the Affliction tree will let you speed up your leveling considerably. You will have a lot of survivability through the Affliction tree and Demonology tree at later levels. The Felguards are also really nice and do add up to the damage. Felguards will be effective tanks for some mobs as well due to their Cleave ability and you will be able to place the DoTs easier.
